Couldn't you lay bricks to fill the cavity in the tank and then take like a ten gallon container and put 4 gallons of water in it and then add all the bricks to the bucket and measure or mark the new waterline. Then pull the bricks and add enough gallons of water to the bucket until the water level reached the mark and figure the volume that way? Did this make any sense? Maybe it's too much work.
