Stage one. Remove your glove box....You may be able to get access via the opening when you pull your ashtray, but I find it a lot easier getting access from the glove box side. This will allow you access to the rear of the cigarette lighter. You can disconnect the wiring.

Stage two. Disconnect the connector on the back of the cigarette lighter.

Stage three. Separate the alumuinum section from the green plastic (lighted section). This is the hardest part. Stick a knife between the two and gently wedge them apart. Once you have done that the metal middle section should just pull completely out.

Stage four. Remove the green ring. Should be easy now that the aluminum middle section is gone.
