I think he's referring to the Bentley pages. The Canadian daytime lights wireup is on 97.235 and 97.236; the "normal" wireup is 97.211 and 97.212, for comparison. The Canadian pages show the daytime running lights relay and how it's connected. I tried to figure it out to wire mine up, but in the end I decided it was too much trouble to figure out the "VW way". Instead, since I already had the headlights on their own separate relays and my aux battery charging circuit is fed off a relay activated by the blue alternator wire (with a cut out relay thrown by the starter solenoid wire!), I just added a switch between them. Now I can leave the running lights on in the city, where only simple visibility has value and no one pays attention to anyone flashing their brights, and wouldn't know what to make of it even if they did.
