i took a junk vanagon gas tank to my local welder and he thinks he can do
this..  i cut the tanks open, clean them out thoroughly, let them dry, and he
will weld them.   if it is a sucess, would there be any interest in these?   i
have a number of good gas tanks here that i could do this to..


basically we are talking about cutting the gas tank open on the top at the
perimeter of the "saddle" depression, and welding in new metal to replace the
area of the "saddle" (that vw should have eliminated with the demise of the
aircooled vanagon), therefore increasing fuel capacity of the stock 2wd tank.


anyone interested?
