I bet your splits are in better shape than mine ever were! We wore lots of wool and left the windows open to keep the frost buildup off the inside of the windows. :-)

Of course my '57 Chevy pickup had a heater like two hamsters breathing on your feet too, so it might have something to do with the state of my automotive knowledge (and complete lack of money!) in those days!

I'm thinking its a good thing none of our cars had any speed in those days.
