Sorry 'bout the three postings - I'm an idiot.

Anyway - I'm sure the wind gusted above 70 mph, and that does not include the added mass of the rain slamming against the side of the vehicle.

I'm not sure about the apparently missing tire - I saw this van late Spring when we were last down there and it had all four tires at that time. As far as I know the van is still on its top, those pictures are only two days old.

This reminds me, though, about a story from many years back. During one of Southern California's Santa Ana wind events a loaf was blown off of a Hwy. 2 turn out and down the ravine in the San Gabriel Mountains north of Los Angeles killing the occupant. If I remember correctly the driver pulled off the road and when he opened the door the wind caught the van and blew it right over. He never had a chance to get out.
