Hey Lyle,

I haven't been following your thread, but if you want to pmail me your electrical symptoms (and model year of your Vanagon - camper/auto/manual/2wd/4wd etc.) I'll see if I can't walk you through troubleshooting the beast.

One person, said it sounded like I had the A/C wire.? I think that I must have. Now my headlights don't work... or the heater fan..? So I am almost back where I started, I do not see an A/C wire in Bentley...? I still am now with no voltage to the radiator fan... I don't think..? I have been reading the list here, and keep seeing about those big resistors...? I don't see those either in the Bentley..? I'm wondering just what all I messed up when I fed 12 volts backward inot the A/C circuit..? > > The good news is it is licensed and tagged... but it failed inspection. Simple thing, head lights that did work, and the muffler. The inspection rules are changing here, they have been really lax compared to some of you guys... no tester up the tail pipe yet, but Dallas county has it... so we are not far off. > > Muffler hangers don't pass any more unless they are welded on, and I'm wondering if a muffler and clamp is still legal...I was afraid to ask. Guess I need to. Right now, oh and also she said my emergency brake would not hold.. well it does, so I will just tighten it up some. > >Any ideas about the headlights... anybody..? Also where do you find a reasonable muffler... she wanted $80.00 for the muffler installed. That sounds pretty good actually...if I can get these other things fixed..? > > Do I have ot remove the dash to work on these things... heater, headlight problems..? > >Thanks in advance, > >Lyle Lathem >1985 Vanagon, GL >Quinlan, Texas >resiolute@copper.net > >------------------------------ > >End of vanagon Digest - 22 Sep 2006 - Special issue (#2006-805) >*************************************************************** > > > > >
