ok, lets say you have a big box full of vanagon springs. some springs are from carats, some from GL's, they're all from different vans, different years. how can you tell them apart? volkswagen paints its stock springs black. there is however a colored marking that was painted on the spring to ID them when they were new.. on my vw cabriolet (which was from florida, so the orig springs still had the orig paint on them) they were black with a little purple paint spot on them to ID them. different colored spots meant different spring rates and different applications. its hard to come across a vanagon spring here that still has all the original black paint on it, though. most are surface rusted now. what im trying to find out, is what color markings did the vanagon Carat/wolfsburg springs use? does anyone know? chris |
