Why does everyone "dread" these, anyway?


To recap, it looks like the best tire size for OEM alloys (not steel rims)
is 205R70-14 as the width is closer to the 6" rim width. However, almost no
one makes these in a reinforced tire.


CIP has Nankang brand 8-ply D-rated 205R70-14's for around a hundred a
piece, and they sound like a heck of a tire. But I'm concerned about harsh
ride and noise. Does anyone run these or have other experience with them? I
really don't want to lose my fillings every time I hit an expansion joint in
the highway.


Is it better to stick with 185's, as in Yoko's  or Bridgestone's or Conti's,
C-rated, 6 ply, and damn the rim width issue?


This is for a full camper, moderate driving, no off road, no snow. The
Bridgestones on there aren't bad but are wearing down.
