Check the archives for noise reduction a thread from October 18 through October 24, 2004. There is a really long discussion about this very seal.

I have been contemplating finding a flat rubber extrusion and bonding it to the front inside edge of the door. It would seal against the front end when the door is closed. I'm assuming this would mess up the 'flow thru' ventilation on my '86. However, I can't say I really notice much difference if the flow thru vent on the back door is opened or closed anyway. What is the disadvantage? >
