Hmmm, if the problem isn't in the brakes/lines/cylinders...my memory is that I had a vacuum leak at or near the deceleration valve and that there is a vacuum brake assist on my '80. Others might know where this connection is as I had this trouble years ago.

...not sure if a failure here would give you the symptom you mention though...likely that it would just make braking harder, requiring more effort rather than letting the pedal go to the floor.

I'm more likely to think that you still have air in the system some where.
