We have an 88 Wolfsburg Edition with the same problem, I often stall out in the middle of a turn onto a main road in our town. I hope someone more versed in vanagon issues like this responds with some advise cuz we could really glean from that too. My daily driver, 1985 1.9l gas, is all but impossible to keep idling when I 1st crank it up....but after 3-5 minutes on the road, it idles OK for an old van with a small exhaust leak.....

Any suggestions on the cold start idle system?

Thanks

Larry Georgia
