You weren't askin' me but here I go anyway... > 1) The magnet, I imagine needs to go on the axle as close to the > differential as possible to prevent as much up and down movement as > possible. Any good fastening points for the sensor bracket?
Yes, on the hub as I recall. I just made a simple 'L' bracket out of a bit of bar stock to hold the pickup. Used an existing bolt to attach the bracket. The Van's not handy so I can't say what bolt but there is one there. > 2) I understand the wires are not long enough to reach the dashboard. > Do you > just splice wires to the ones that need lengthening or would a nice > plug set > up be more appropriate?
That's what I did. Ran them inside the steering column to the floor, under the carpet to the drivers side seatbelt, thru the hole in the box that the seatbelt light leads go thru, thru a hole low in the box then along the length of the underside secured to something handy and not hot. > 3) There is an empty space under the hazard lights switch. Mine had a column mount switch. > 4) I took out the rear underseat heater a long time ago, I believe > someone > used those wires for the cruise control rather than pulling new wires > to the > front. Is this a good plan?
I used new wire (the gauge is really small, maybe 18?), and kept the correct color code (green, black, red?) to make it easy for the next guy to follow what I did. (What next guy? I'm gonna be buried in this thing) Geo
