Not exactly. I am saying that 2 parts with the same number may be
totally different and only the letter after the number tells what
application one or the other fits. An example of this is 1986 Vanagon
gas tanks.
251 201 075AA Syncro, rear mount, 18 gal, plastic
251 201 075AH 2WD, front mount, 16 gal, metal
Same part NUMBERS, different suffix letters. One is in no way a
redesigned or improved version of the other, they are for different
applications. While in many cases a merely updated part gets a
different letter, that is by no means the definition of a different letter.
