Rod,
I have had similar symptoms in the past and also recently, as you may
have seen. Changing the ignition switch seemed to solve the problem
(turning over, no start) but then another cropped up (turn the key, no
cranking) so it could have been a case of "true, true and unrelated" as
my wife the surgeon says. When the second problem occurred I hot wired
the starter and she fired right up. Since then, no problems starting in
the normal way. And now (a month later) everything is working fine with
the new ignition switch in place, though there is almost always a pause
of a couple seconds between the time I turn the key and the time the
engine cranks over. Odd.
The switches are cheap from Ken, and he has directions for the easy
installation on his web site.
Good luck,
Woody

PS I agree with you 100% about the good energy and astounding knowledge
on this list.. Just look at last week's rescue of a guy stranded in
Florida! It's amazing. I might even risk a long trip one day, knowing
such help is available from The List!

List,
Oops forgot "Critter" also has one of those funny
intermittent problems. On six occasions in the last
few months, when turning the key to the start
position, the normal dash lights blink, the fuel pump
pumps but
the starter does not engage... just silence. Seems I
have normal electricity everywhere. I tore
into the whole starter electrical system and found no
faults and finally gave up and started on the ignition
wiring. All of a sudden starter worked. Strangely, the
next few times it happened just leaving it set also
cured the problem. I have found no faults.
Could it be the ignition switch that is going bad? I
have heard they have the reputation they are a weak
link....
