If you go to the Pep Boys and look in the section for transmission oil coolers they sell an engine oil cooler kit that comes with a thermostatic bypass plate and numerous adaptors to fit different oil filter threads. I installed one of these on my G60 Corrado a few years back and it worked great you could watch the oil temp decrease on my autometer gauge when the thermostatic bypass opened up.
