There is zero oil pressure under the spring. The dripping was the oil draining through the return port into the crankcase. Stripping the threads out of the oil pressure sensor is a rare event indeed. Over tightening usually results in the sensor breaking. Does the light stay on if you remove the wire? Maybe you pinched the wire on the sheet metal or it is touching and welded to an exhaust pipe. Yes, the sensors can fail (ruptured diaphragm) so the light stays on but I think the sudden failure is due to you just working in the area. Been there many times.

Dennis.

Hello, I believe my pressure is ok. The light just wont go off. How often does it break in the on position? I dont want to remove the switch as I think it may destroy the threads. This happened last time my Vangons witch went bad. I removed the new oil filter I just installed. It had oil in it,so I think the pressure is ok.

Can I drill and tap the large oil pressure relief screw to get a new oil pressure switch port? I removed this valve, and it was ok. Oil continually driped out while I had the screw out. Therefore I think I can get a pressure reading from this postion.May take longer, though. What do you think? Get a Chevy?Roger
