Howsabout a part number?. Year of your Vanagon? 2wd or Syncro? A little information goes a long way in figuring out an alternative. I'm looking at the parts explosion in my fiche (2wd) and I'm not really sure of what piece yer really talking about. There seems to be a circular ring around the plastic cap called a "packing" (you could call that a bushing I guess), the cap itself and then on top of that a 88mm "helper spring", (whatever that is) that go below the Upper A-Arm - there is a 26mm metal bushing that goes inside of that on late 84-91 models (dunno what goes there before then). Above the A-Arm is a rubber piece they call a "damping ring", then a metal spacer, then the locknut.

Terminology is what it's all about ;-) -- Jim Thompson 84 Westfalia 2.1 "Ole Putt" 73 K Ghia Coupe "Denise" 72 411 Station Wagon "Pug" oldvolkshome@gmail.com http://www.oldvolkshome.com ********************************** On 10/12/06, Mark C <obeechi@runbox.com> wrote: > > For this part the dealership wants 57 dollars...
