Jeff -
My first question - is it a Bosch or Triumph-Adler unit? 025 906 021C does
not appear in my 1992 Bosch data fiche files, which leads me to believe it's
a TA manufactured ECU as I show the 021C listed in my "Non Bosch" data list,
but without a source. VW did supersede the 021C many, many years ago to the
021 "plain" (based on a 1997 dated VOA supersession fiche), which is a Bosch
unit.
Take another, closer look at what ETKA REALLY says: "Dropped, please use as
replacement 025 906 021". It doesn't say "could use" (at least my copy of
ETKA doesn't say that).
My opinion is that the 025 906 021 and the 021C are interchangeable units.
My 84 Westy - earlier this year on a trip from SoCal to Tennessee and back,
my ECU failed in McClean (sp?) TX on I-40. I had a used spare under the
seat box and swapped it out to continue on the journey. Both the original
(to the vehicle) ECU and the replacement spare were labeled 025 906 021.
Interesting side-bar note: The original ECU was a Spanish made Bosch unit,
while my replacement was made in the "fatherland".
Quick data notes:
025 906 021 = Bosch 0280 000 501 or 502 - USA or CDN 1.9 83.5-85
Note: Bosch Rebuilt CU114X (No Longer Available)
025 906 021A = Bosch 0280 000 509 or 510 - Europe 1.9 83.5-85
025 906 021B = Bosch 0280 000 512 or 513 - Europe 1.9 83.5-85
025 906 021E = Bosch 0280 000 522 or 523 - Europe 2.1 w/Digijet 86-91
Note: I believe this is the ECU Boston Bob provides, but I really don't
know.
Sources: Bosch Data Fiches, "OE to Bosch" and "Bosch to Where Used".
I believe Malcolm Stebbins has a 1.9 Triumph Adler ECU - Malcolm - what is
the number on your ECU?
