My seventeen y.o., Colin, learned to drive in our Mini Cooper S: six speed, traction control, stability control, super responsive brakes, handling and acceleration, airbags everywhere.

After he got his license in the MCS, we started on the Syncro Westfalia. Hard to imagine a vehicle more different: learning to drive using momentum, planning ahead, way tall, no abs, probably a hp/weight ratio a quarter of the Cooper. He was very dubious, but after a few miles around town he started to get the feel of it, and after about an hour he looked over at me and said "I can't believe it - this thing is fun!"
