Maybe you should go turbo Diesel or trade yours to someone that wants a Diesel. Upgrading to gasoline is one project. Requires the vapor recovery system and all the related stuff. The Subaru is another project and so is the transmission. Best bet is to get some donor vehicles to use for parts and models. Hello, I just recently adopted an '82 diesel westy. I absolutely love camping in my vanagon but the power of a 1.6 NA scares me traveling with my family. I am considering a Subaru conversion and realize that I would have to change the gearing in the transmission. The one flaw to my VW addiction is that my with cannot drive a manual car.(Should I say that I don't let her ;0) I would love to install an automatic transmission with the Subaru engine. How daunting a task is this (tranny)? Jamie Auch |
