As a NON mechanic, I can't really advise as to what is
"right", (there are many factors..... and in some
cases various terms; rebuilt, reconditioned, refurbed
get thrown around all too easily....) but if receipts
are shown for ALL work, and story of what happened to
van is accurate (i.e. dates for work done, and
accident (icbc report?) "line up") that would help.
IMHO, an engine with a "rebuilt factory case", would
mean that the case has had a bore alignment etc. and
therefore would warrant the inclusion of a new or
used/machined crank, cam, all new bearings,
pistons/rings, heads, lifters, seals/gaskets, etc and
was assembled by an experienced builder.
Can you see/hear it running?
