I have to agree with this statement.
My new to me 95 Nissan Pathfinder is supposed to have
an auto alarm and remote locks, but my remote doesn't
work.  Also if I want to lock my truck, I have to
crawl in through the rear hatch to get in the only
working lock.  I haven't had the money to get it fixed
and have yet to loose anything of value out of my
unlocked truck. (not that my $30 drill or work uniform
is worth stealing)  I have had this truck one year and
so far no break in.  I have owned my Vanagon for 6 or
so years and I rarely keep it locked... well, it locks
now. ;)  With the engine rebuild, we fixed the locks.
Heck, all of the old VWs I have ever owned never
really locked right...
Maybe you could put a sticker on your Van that says
toxic waste inside.  Moblie Proctology exams and leave
rubber gloves laying around.
Just some thoughts.
