Subject: Re: Westy Winter Camping Suggestions..
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII

Some things I've learned: - a 1500W ceramic heater will heat a westy with the pop-top down. - If your feet and hands are cold, put a hat on. - Keep your head covered, even when sleeping. - take lots of wool socks, and change them often. - Screw the diet!!! you need about 3,000 calories a day when winter camping.

I'll add one thing. I went winter camping a few years back, and I took 2 of those large heat packs (you shake them up and they provide about 8 hours of heat). I put one in the pillow case and one down by my feet, and it was one of the best nights sleep I ever got while camping, and it got down to 18 degrees that night. I'm also thinking of trying to organize a winter campout in the mid Atlantic area for early 2007-anyone interested? C'mon, if the Canadians can do it, so can we! There are advantages to winter camping:no crowds, no bugs, and your beer doesn't get warm! If interested, pmail me. Jeff
