Gregor,

What I did is not the answer to your problem since you wish to keep all wires under the dash. However, if you don't find the exact answer to your question, here is an alternative that works perfectly.

I purchased a fog light switch from Bus Depot and use that as my switch. The fog light switch fits on the dash in an empty slot and looks absolutely stock. When I put the switch in the off position, the fuel pump receives no power and thus the van will crank, but will not start and will not flood the engine. My wife and I used this setup last summer when we took a 14,000 mile trip to B.C. We parked in a lot of remote areas and went on lots of all day hikes. It really felt good knowing that if anyone broke into the van that they would not be able to hot wire it and steal our van. Fortunately, our van was never broken into, but we sure felt better knowing we had a setup where the van would not start---unless the person was a real vanagon pro and figured out my setup.

What I did to connect the fog light switch in my 1991 Westy follows:

I ran a wire from the back of the fuse box to the fog light switch for power. I then ran a wire from the switch under the van to the engine compartment. Over on the right hand side of the engine compartment (behind the air filter enclosure) is a connector for the wires to the fuel pump. (It may be in a different location on older vans). I installed a regular relay by that connector. For lack of better terminology, the connector has two parts --- A plugs into B. From A, I ran a new wire from the RW wire to #30 on the relay. From #87 on the relay, I ran a new wire to the RW wire on B. I ran a new wire from the ground wire in A to B. I installed a ground wire from #86 on the relay to the chassis. The wire I ran from the front of the van to the engine compartment, I attached to #85 on the relay.

Now, when the fog light switch is in the off position, the fuel pump is not getting power and the van will not start. Works like a charm.

If I wish to go back to stock, I just pull the wires I added and plug the original connectors together.
