I don't know where your mechanic received his training, but have you ever heard of flash rust, ask any machinist about what he does to metal after he cleans it, it is immediatey dried and covering with a rust inhibtor. Flash rust will occure on any cleaned exposed metal, why didn't you have the tank treated with a sealer so the rust would stay away. I clean my own and use acid and the POR-15 gas tank sealer treatment and have not had any problems with any of mine that have been treated. Phil
