Just another data point for you guys 85GL with the sag butt
I read from  the guys on the samba who use the monroe coil over shocks

I had to bend a little body metal to get clearance for the spring but it
slide right in a part from that
shock travel & compression are within  1/4" of the orginals shock

I can load up with camping gear 3 mountain bikes
& I am still level at the rear
and I like a nice firm ride these do the trick for me
