Subject: one last fuel tank question........
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

I forgot to mention this in my earlier post. After my pump failed I removed it and temporarily replaced it with my spare (with a new pre-filter!) so I could drive the van a little. When I removed the fuel line from the pump is when I discovered the sludge.

I also discovered something else. I had a pan laid out to catch the gas from the tank until I could plug the line. Much to my surprise after the initial spurt from the line the flow stopped. I even removed the line from the tank completely to splice in the new prefilter and gas did not so much as drip out of the tank. Is this normal, or just more evidence of a big sludge deposit at the bottom of the tank? I expected a constant stream until I could plug the line.

The van is running ok with the old pump and prefilter at the moment (not driving it much though until I get the new tank in).

Thanks again. Curt '85 Westy (now known as the "Problematic")
