The gas gauge can be re-calibrated... I did it inadvertently when I
replaced the capicitors in the analog clock.  The spring thingy popped
off and the gas gauge fell apart.  I got it all back together and
amazingly it is much more accurate/meaningful than before (was
previously reading 'red zone' way too soon).
