Rob,

If the seal does not looked damage or worn, don't assume they are the problem causing the noise. IF the noise goes away when you press the glass close, you probably only need to tighten the latch.

You can do that by driving out the retaining roll pin with a drift tool. Then adjust (push) the latch inwards before reinstalling the pin.
