sell the diesel westy and buy a gas one with an auto trans..

there are lots of people out there who are looking for diesel westys..why go thru all the hassle? a diesel nut would gladly buy yours and just take the proceeds and buy a nice automtic waterboxer westy and put a subaru motor in it.. nobody will care if you pitch a waterboxer motor.
