My experience is, that there is an internet operated pick up network nationwide. The operators check it every time they are about to come to an area and want to load up with an other vehicle to avoid going empty. They stay on the road all the time, milling around the country, charging about 50c per mile, up to about $1200 max. There are companies who take on your car and find a driver to take it to you. They make about $200 on every job by not doing very much. The driver pays for everything, gas, maintenance, speeding tickets, insurance of their vehicle, cell phone, etc., while live in their cab, and making just enough to keep on going. So, most companies are just brokers and doing the communication between you and the driver, and really they make good money. I use a little joint, that charges me only $50 for the listing of my van and lets me know when one driver selected my van for moving for the offered price given, or asks me to up it for them to make it more attractive, otherwise it may stay on the list for very long until a poor sole takes it, finding nothing else better. This is more or less the picture with moving vehicles today. You can't expect your nearby company to drive cross country empty and pick up only your van. That would not be good economy. My advice is to find one online company that will charge less than the others. For this planned move, I think, you would expect about $1000. Zoltan
