IMHO, I don't recommend it for the following reasons..........

1. They aren't familiar with the type 4 air-cooled VW engine;

2. They probably won't clean the strainer screen. They probably don't even know what or where it is.

3. They won't have a strainer screen cover gasket on hand to replace it, if needed.

4. If they remove the sump screen, they'll overtighten the nut. This WILL break the cam web portion of the engine case. Now your engine is screwed.

5. They'll use the wrong type/ weight oil. The cheap multi-weights that they use get very thin when this engine gets very hot. Just a normal ride from the lube place to my house on a hot Arizona day, caused the 5W-20(?) to be as thin as water, with resulting extremely low oil pressure. Another good way to lose an engine.

6. They'll refuse to be responsible for your screwed up engine, forcing you to prove it all in court and wate lots of time and money. Better spent enjoying your van.

HTH, Mike B.
