I had a shop do the sender on the GoldBrick earlier this year. They disconnected and removed the AC's receiver/dryer and the charcoal canister which are in the wheel well, then they were able to snake the sender in and out. I believe that's the way the Bentley describes doing it too.

There is no need to drop the tank.
