Subject: Do 1.9L engine cores have any value?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-2"

I was given a 1.9L engine, which is literally a basket case. The PO said it had bad heads, but he completely dis-assembled everything, and I have about four boxes of loose parts, and an empty case. Someone else has offered to give me another 1.9L engine (still assembled). I already have several dead 2.1L engines to practice on, if I chose to attempt to learn engine rebuilding. So my questions are:

In general, do any engine rebuilders outright buy 1.9L core engines(as opposed to allowing a core return as part of an engine purchase), and,

Since my engine is apart, does it have any value as a core? I realize that shipping it all would cost more. Do the individual major parts have any real value? I think I have seen the occasional block, crank, or camshaft on Ebay, but have never paid attention to what bids (if any) they received. Thanks in advance to any responders.

Cary
