The ones I used were from McMaster Carr. They've got quite a variety
of gas springs. The ones I choose were about 30" in length and you
could choose which fittings to use on both ends. I tried a variety of
strengths before I eventually went with the 250 pound ones (highest
capacity for that size).

Go to page 1098 of their online catalog (www.mcmaster.com), or search
on "gas springs" and go to the next page. 29.33" length M8 fittings.
Not knowing at the time how I would mount it, I just the variety pack
of fittings at the bottom of that catalog page

About $60 in parts.
