> I have been laying on my back putting new hoses in for my rear > heater, I never knew they were smaller than the regular heater > hoses... Yeah, fun, eh? I was going to use the OEM plastic tees to plumb the 5/8" in and out lines to the ATF cooler in place of the rear heater based on the assumption that the rear heater lines were the same diameter at the tee as up at the heater*. The discovery of the smaller side taps on the plastic tees was the cause of Yet Another Trip to the FLAPS when I was reworking the cooling system. Leave it to VW to use special tapered hoses. Wouldn't want them to be easy to replace with something bought by the foot at the FLAPS... * or (in my case) at the short bit of rusty 1/2" EMT used as a coupler by the PO to bypass the leaky rear heater. -- John Bange '90 Vanagon - "Geldsauger" |
