Well, in my frustration, after I installed the new tank, I towed my Vanagon to our nearby mechanic who finished installing it for me. Dang those tight grommets!!

BUT....

It's now leaking at the filler neck seal. It's a slight gradual leak - not enough to cause a puddle, but enough to leave a trail and have that now-too-familiar gasoline stench everywhere I go.

I brought it back to them, and reinstalled the neck in the filler hole to no avail. It's still leaking!

I noticed that when the new tank is mounted, the filler hole is slightly below the hole in the frame. Is this off? The filler grommet is brand new. Should I go back and use the old grommet??

Man, I went to my local RV store to pickup goodies, and a older gentleman was saying "Who's Westfalia is that?" Then he said to me "Is this your bus?? How much are you selling it for? - Rarer then Hen's teeth"

I was almost tempted to give him a figure. This dang gas tank is beyond frustrating me!! HELP!
