There are plenty of east coast cars that were garage kept and have zero rust.....you just don't drive the car when there is salt on the road. It is completely possible that this van is rust-free. But nonetheless "caveat emptor". Anthony '89 Syncro GL (Hidalgo)

True, but after looking at the pictures I wouldn't be so quick to assume the seller is full of it. Of course there is rust, especially on the undercarriage (true of new cars sitting on dealers lots as well, at least back in days when this Westy was new). However, I wouldn't put it in the category of most Vanagons and especially Bays that I've looked at over the years that sellers described as "rust free" meaning the rust is underneath 100 lbs. of bondo. My pet peeve: when sellers say "only has surface rust". Can't tell you how much "surface rust" I've ground off that ended up going all the way through the metal. Jeff
