Paul,

I don't know about West Coast Metrics stuff, but Van Cafe's rubber is original VW and is excellent quality.

Cheers,

Jeff

I’m a new member and hope you can respond to two topics that I am considering for my newly purchased 1991 Vanagon:

1) Painting – The interior and mechanical condition are very good, but the paint is awful (no rust, just faded badly). I have received 2 quotes, one from Maaco ($1700) and another from a local guy who paints show cars and would take off the bumpers, etc and make it look new, but he wants $3,000. What is a good range fore the costs? I do plan to hold on to the bus. 2) Window Noise, Trim. I plan to replace the window trim and have found 2 sources for the parts (see below). Van Café has better pricing, but do you have experience with these vendors, could you recommend one over the other and what do you know about the window trim and noise reduction? a. Van – Café: http://www.van-cafe.com/vanagonparts.jsp?pa=ip&ip=947385587 <http://www.van-cafe.com/vanagonparts.jsp?pa=ip&ip=947385587> b. West Coast Metric: http://www.westcoastmetric.com/ordercatalog.php

Paul
