Subject: Installing new manifolds
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

Hello all, Been reading the list for a few weeks and really appreciate all the help available here. Thanks! My current issue is that I have installed new headers on my 84 1.9 WBX and the manifold gasket at the head keeps blowing out. I am thinking that this is because the collector and the two header pipes do not line up properly when the manifolds are tightened to the heads and I have to put pressure on the pipes to get the bolts into the holes. Am I supposed to custom fit the headers to eliminate this problem (grind the gasket faces of the headers at the head end of the manifold) or should I just keep trying? I used the copper gasket sealer last time but still no luck. Thanks. Steven Sacramento CA
