After reading the posts on this little propane heater I went looking last week and found them at Dick’s Sporting Goods; $99 for the standard (no fan) one and $139 for the larger one with a fan. While standing at the display, a guy mentioned he found the same thing rebadged at Lowe’s (home improvement center, may be regional) for less money, so we checked there and found the Mr. Heater standard for $75 and bought it. It’s about the size of a shoebox (hiking boot box, actually), takes a standard 1 lb. propane cylinder and works pretty well for taking the chill off on those low-30s, high-20s nights and mornings. Out of caution, we did not run it all night. Even though the device features a low-oxygen cutoff, we figured it was safer not to risk it. In retrospect, I think it might have been worth the risk. I have not slept that cold in a long time, so my other gear may require some tweaking before the next jaunt. Thumbs up on the heater, though. Stephen
