Well, I set out to drain the oil from the AT, remove the sump, replace strainer, gaskets and refill with Redline. No problem, got the parts & everything looks straight forward. Also thought I would drain the final drive section and refill with Redline. Well, after 16 years working only on a manual, this section was new to me. No drain plug! I have cleaned and removed the fill plug. Can I remove as much fluid as possible with a vacuum pump through the fill hole and refill with Redline, up to the hole? Or do I have to remove the pan (as in "it's a good idea", but I don't have a new gasket)? In my next life, I will have a high-ceiling garage with a lift, bright lights everywhere and a steam-cleaner, and a floor drain, etc. Oh my aching back :). Jerry |
