I only take the regulator with me on the road. The alternator is fine most of the time. So far I did not have problem with the bearings, that can give you hard time if happens. Ther regulator is small enough. And its only the brushes that can give you the most trouble. But if I know, how much life I have on the brushes, I am not really worried.
