Or rather half shaftz.

I did it again. I gunned the SVX engine on my Westy Syncro....running with the front wheels decoupled. And suddenly I didn't have any power. Once again, I was only about 1 1/2 mile from my house so I engaged the rear diff lock and limped home.

Last time I had grenaded a CV joint on the right rear (outside) . This time I sheared the axle cleanly on the left rear (inside).

Of course I was planning on hitting the road for a trip in about 2 hours....instead I was lubing up the CVs in a replacement half shaft and swapping it in. Got on the road a couple of hours later than planned.

'Tis a dangerous thing to have lots of power in a Vanagon....
