Subject: 81 Westy Heat/Air Distribution/Blower Box Rebuild
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed

The front heat/air distribution/blower box in my '81 Westy constantly emits cold outside air, regardless of the position of the controls (yes, I'm sure the cables are properly connected). I'm sure the foam seals are shot and I need to rebuild the box. Quite a while ago I read an article on one of the online Vanagon sites giving pretty clear directions how to do this -- right down to the VW part number for the clips you need to reassemble the plastic air distribution box after you split the "welded" seams to rehab it. But, of course, now that I need it, I can't find it again.

I've found directions on a web list how to remove the dash and get down to the cables, but not how to remove and refurbish the box.

Can anyone point me in the right direction or give me some guidance?

Lee '81 Vanagon Westy
