Oh man, I totally hear you. I used to empty the whole thing once a year right before tucking it in for winter. (This year my better half ix-nayed that, although I did take off all the cabinet doors and bring in the bed mattresses.) It was like a magic trick or a camping clown car or something - I'd be bringing out tons of stuff, making multiple trips between the garage and the house. Sometimes I'd just sit in the van, marveling at its efficiency to store and hold anything we might need on a trip.
