Tom,

I have had a couple of gremlins with my '84 1.9L over the years that you
missed.  First, take a look at the connectors at the plug ends of the #1 and
#3 wires.  I have had these corrode out in six months or so.  Use conductive
grease on spark plug connectors.  Second, the contacts on the big connector
between FI cable and ECU must be clean.  I was having exact same symptoms
you reported until my mechanic at that time discovered the problem.
