I was on a trip in my '84 7 pass when the ECU failed while pulling off the freeway into a rest area. I had been driving that van over 10 years, then, but had a spare ECU under the seat ... which had been there the whole time.

I'm sure glad I didn't leave it at home in that I hadn't needed it before that.
