guides can be changed But they tend to get stuck in place over time and
driving them out can lead to mushrooming. I core them out and leave a step
to drive them out. You can tap the guide and install a bolt and try tapping
it out.
To install guides I coat them with a synthetic anti seize and drive them in
with a stepped driver I got from my local snap on dealer.That was the easy
part the guide then needs to be sized as it can distort or the Id can shrink
when installed. Two methods for sizing guides are honing and reaming and
because most guides are silicone bronze a carbide ream is needed. I spent
the big money and bought a Sunnen hone to size the guides
So this is not a common backyard job and you might consider having a shop
take care of this for you
or better yet spring for the new heads my price is $450 each prepped and
readty to install
